About_
Meddrop is a pharmaceutical distributor based in the interior of São Paulo, holding a market share of over 80% among small and medium-sized pharmacies. However, only 17% of these currently use online purchasing.
Looking to expand into new states and reposition its in-person sales representatives toward market growth, Meddrop chose to completely revamp its online ordering system, transforming it into a service platform for managing, buying and selling medications and related products.
Research
The digital world is driving automation in everyday services, including online medication ordering for pharmacies. In partnership with MedDrop, Studio Latina conducted UX research to improve MedDrop’s ordering platform. The study involved workflow mapping, in-depth user interviews, and quantitative data analysis to identify pain points and user preferences.
Key findings revealed inefficiencies in the registration and ordering process, a lack of immediate feedback, and a strong reliance on sales representatives. Research also showed that user purchase behaviors vary based on order value and frequency. Competitor analysis highlighted opportunities for system enhancements, including better interface design and personalized purchase benefits. Insights from MedDrop promoters further reinforced the need for an intuitive platform with automated features.
Challenge_
Redesign purchasing platform into a service, provide pharmacies with management tools such as stats, automation, and personalized benefits. Streamline registration, reduce reliance on sales reps, and enhance the user experience with real-time feedback.
Solution_
The User Profile section provides pharmacies with a comprehensive overview of their purchasing activities and financial management. It includes:
Payment Summary: Displays outstanding invoices, due dates, and payment history with clear status indicators (e.g., overdue, pending, paid).
Calendar Integration: Highlights upcoming and past payment dates, helping users stay organized and avoid missed deadlines.
Spending Analytics: Interactive graphs showcase total purchases over time, as well as a category-wise breakdown to track consumption patterns.
Automated Insights: A chatbot or assistant offers personalized tips, highlights best-selling products, and suggests restocking based on demand trends.
Account Management: Users can switch between registered CNPJs, monitor credit limits, and access financial data effortlessly.
This data-driven and intuitive dashboard transforms MedDrop from a simple ordering platform into a full-service purchasing and management tool, giving pharmacies greater control over their operations.
Results_
The proposed solutions made access and navigation on the platform easier, eliminating barriers in the purchasing process. Information hierarchy was improved, providing users with greater predictability and control. The focus on immediate feedback reduced uncertainty, while new strategies for sales representatives strengthened connections with regular customers.
